Less than 10% of all venture capital deals go to women, people of color, and LGBTQ founders. The Opportunity Fund is designed to invest time and capital in entrepreneurs who have the talent, drive, and ideas to build great businesses but lack the typical background and resources to do so.
If you identify with any of the following:
We'd love to support you with initial capital to get your business off the ground. We're focused on early-stage startups, and we typically invest around $5K - $10K in each company, but we are open to discussing whatever option fits you as a founder.
To compensate for the skills gap some underresourced entrepreneurs may experience in foundership, we've partnered with some awesome businesses to set our portfolio companies up with a suite of declarative programming tools so they can build scalable websites, store data, and handle transactions all without writing a single line of code. We're also prepared to help you with anything from launching your product to finding your first 100 customers, and if we can't help you - we'll connect you with someone who can.
To show you how serious we are, at the end of the year, we'll publish an annual impact report reviewing the breakdown of demographics and tapped segments from our diverse portfolio companies.
Statements in solidarity are great. But not enough VCs put their money where their mouth is. Funding diverse founders isn't charity work; it's an opportunity to get different perspectives and exposures to different business models. We need to erase the view that white founders with crazy ideas are often seen as visionaries, and black founders are seen as charity cases that aren't worth the risk.
100% of investment returns will remain in the Opportunity Fund to finance future founders - so all profits get recycled into paying it forward to future generations of student entrepreneurs.
